CESC contributions at Nordichi’ 2016

Published Oct 03, 2016

CESC researchers will participate in the main Nordic forum for Human-Computer interaction research, the NordiCHI’ conference, held in Gothenburg late October. CESC contributes through both a paper, presenting interesting results from the so called EcoPanel, and a workshop on Human-Computer Interaction and UN:s Sustainable Development goals.

CESC researchers will participate in the main Nordic forum for human-computer interaction research, the NordiCHI’ conference, held in Gothenburg on October 23 – 27. CESC contributes through both a paper and a workshop.

The paper presents interesting results from the so-called EcoPanel, an eco-feedback visualization created and studied in collaboration with a Swedish food retailer. Data gathering and web design has been used to provide consumers with detailed information and trends about their organic food consumption. Results from a five months test with 65 users show an increase in the users’ organic purchases. This paper is titled “Eco-feedback Visualization for Closing the Gap of Organic Food Consumption” and is co-authored by Jorge Luis Zapico, Cecilia Katzeff, Ulrica Bohnéa and Rebecka Milestad.

The workshop is titled WS13: HCI and UN’s Sustainable Development Goals: Responsibilities, Barriers and Opportunities  and aims at engaging everyone interested in working towards a sustainable future in terms of and with the UN SDGs as a starting point. How can research on Sustainable HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) be inspired by, and contribute to these goals? The workshop is organized by Elina Eriksson, Daniel Pargman, Oliver Bates, Maria Normark, Jan Gulliksen, Mikael Anneroth and Johan Berndtsson.

The theme of NordiCHI’16 is game-changing design – in a a dual sense; firstly how design and designs can completely change how we perceive and act in the world, but secondly – and just as importantly – whether and how we can change our perception of what design really is, and how it should be done.
