Välkommen! CESC är ett tvärvetenskapligt forskningscentrum vid KTH. Vi tillhandahåller en plattform för kunskapsutbyte och samarbete mellan forskning, industri och den offentliga sektorn. Tillsammans med våra partners bedriver CESC forskning om hur informations- och kommunikationsteknologi kan bidra till att skapa en hållbar utveckling. Forskningen bedrivs huvudsakligen på engelska och därför finns också den mesta informationen på engelska. Besök gärna vår engelska webblats för mer information.

Visit by delegation from Shanghai

We are welcoming a delegation of 20 public servants from the Shanghai Municipal Government, between October 9 and 11.

They will get series of lectures on ICT and sustainability to meet their wish to learn about solutions for smart concept and big data at city level, which can be​ applied to city management and services for the general public - from transport to energy to security to communication etc.

After-work @KTH: Master thesis on ICT and Sustainability

ICT4S Summer school - in retrospect

In July/August this year, an ICT4S Summer School was succesfully arranged at Lorentz center in Holland, by us together with 4 other universities. The theme was "How can digitalization support a sustainable future?".

The summer school was for PhD-students and had 20 participants from around the world. Three of them came from CESC, plus two presenters. Read more here (in Swedish).

Call for papers: ICT for Sustainability in Sustainability

Welcome to submit contributions to a Special issue on Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) for Sustainability, in the well-ranked journal Sustainability. Dead-line Nov 15, 2017 or March 15, 2018. More information here.

Summing-up CESC in Almedalen 2017

With a total of more than 4 000 registered events and the themes; sustainability, digitalisation, climate and environment on top-5, this year's Almedalen week was very intense and relevant for us. We participated through our own well-visited seminar, co-arranged ones and also as experts and audience. Thanks to everyone involved! Read about selected high-lights here (In Swedish).

CESC in Almedalen 2017

CESC is going to Almedalen again. This year, we welcome you to a seminar about how digitalisation can support the sharing economy in a way that actually leads to reduced resource use. Per Bolund, Sweden's Minister for Financial Markets and Consumer Affairs will participate, together with other prominent panel members. Summer School ICT4S 2017 - updated program and time to register!

As previously announced, ICT4S Summer School will be held at the Lorentz Centre in Leiden, Netherlands, between July 31 and Aug 4. It will focus both on how to make ICT greener, and how to leverage the power of ICT to develop sustainable solutions in diverse areas, such as urban planning, transport, buildings, food, clean water... New Strategic Innovation Program!

The Swedish Energy Agency, Vinnova and Formas have decided to grant the application for setting up a Strategic Innovation Program for Smart Sustainable Cities with 40 MSEK/year the coming years. The program is a continuation of the Strategic Innovation Agenda for Smart Sustainable Cities that was initiated by CESC and the KTH Energy platform in 2013. Listen to Anders Gullberg in a five minute interview about future (climate) smart solutions for urban traffic. He presents his innovative research and ideas - based on digital transport systems and inspired by internet giants such as Spotify, Facebook and Google.
